Offering perspective on AHA Scientific Sessions 2020 Presentation P1917 copyright American Heart Association 2020 "Well, I think this paper is quite relevant to the United States. Our population is not dissimilar from that in Australia. Obviously not identical, but certainly many similarities. I think it's important to point out as we did in our previous scientific statement about second hand smoke exposure in children. And this continues to be true that children have that kind of exposure much more if they're part of a population at a lower socioeconomic status. The health inequities that we see in our country relate to things like smoking exposure as well. So no question that we need to work hard to make sure that people have access to adequate effective smoking cessation therapy. Including multi episode counseling and medications when necessary. And that we do all we can to protect all our children from addiction to nicotine and the use of tobacco products."
