Offering perspective on AHA Scientific Sessions 2020 Presentation 316 copyright American Heart Association 2020 "This study looked particularly at women in their 60s. Many of these women, in fact, maybe retired or may have the more traditional role of being in the home. However, that is no excuse for not moving. On the contrary, if you're going to have to sweep with a broom, tuck your tummy in, bend from the waist and sweep away. If you're going to do groceries and you're gonna go buy something at the grocery store, you're going to your local pharmacy, park a little bit further away from the entrance so that you'll have to walk. Most people drive around to find that perfect parking slot that's right next to the door. Fight that urge to do that, park farther away. I am doing that right now because I want to increase my steps, so I'm purposely parking further away so I have more to walk. Walk around your grocery store that's a fine place to walk. So it is at the pharmacy, there's always interesting things to look at. So if you're a home body, being at home is not an excuse for not moving, there are ways to do it."
